BERLIN, April 9th, 2024 – Today, emnify, the leader in cloud-native IoT connectivity solutions, has announced its participation in the EU-funded SNS-ORIGAMI project, a significant European Union-funded initiative under the Horizon Europe framework through the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU). This collaboration aligns with Europe’s strategic ambition to lead the development of 6G technologies and ensure its technological sovereignty.
The SNS-ORIGAMI project brings together a prestigious consortium, including emnify, the University of Würzburg, Telefonica, NEC Corporation, TIM, and other academic and industrial partners. Together, these partners will work to advance architectural models for future mobile networks, addressing critical challenges to the deployment and scalability of 6G technologies. This project is necessary for meeting Europe’s stringent requirements on security, privacy, sustainability, and digital inclusion, laying the groundwork for a resilient, human-centric digital future.
Martin Giess, SVP Strategic Business Development and Partnerships at emnify, says, “Our involvement in the ORIGAMI project not only signifies emnify’s technological ability and innovation, but also our dedication to contributing to a shared vision for Europe’s digital future.”
“For several years, we at the University of Würzburg have been working closely with emnify. Our collaboration demonstrates a dedication to the cutting edge of technological progress and development, which has defined our experience working together. It has been this bridge between academic scholarship and practical usage, which has allowed us to see our discoveries and observations turned into actualized solutions for the world of telecommunication. However, this initiative is particularly special and important – it is a significant joint work that allowed us to address 6G problems and prospects by applying the developed research and related experience,” Tobias Hoßfeld, Professor at the Chair of Communication Networks, University of Würzburg
This project also underscores the importance of collaborative research, public-private partnerships, and the alignment of EU-funded initiatives with Europe’s strategic priorities, including the Green Deal and digital sovereignty goals. Through this collaboration, emnify and its partners are setting the stage for a future where digital connectivity facilitates groundbreaking applications and services, from the Internet of Things (IoT) to critical communications and beyond.
